Honoured by HEALCON Foundation for Excellence in MINIMAL INVASIVE Surgeries

17th August 2025 | India International Centre, New Delhi

A highly insightful Continuing Medical Education (CME) program, “Fibroids in Focus – Understanding, Awareness, and Innovative Treatment”, was held on 17th August 2025 at the prestigious India International Centre, New Delhi. The event aimed to address one of the most common yet often misunderstood women’s health challenges: uterine fibroids.

The session highlighted the scale of the problem, noting that 20–25% of women of reproductive age are affected globally, with 11.5% undergoing hysterectomy due to fibroids. Experts emphasized the importance of timely intervention, discussing symptoms such as heavy menstrual bleeding, pelvic pain, frequent urination, infertility, and abdominal bloating.

A key focus of the CME was Minimal Access Surgery (MAS), an advanced surgical approach that offers:

• 60–70% reduction in blood loss
• 70% faster recovery time (1–2 weeks vs. 4–6 weeks in traditional surgery)
• Smaller incisions (2–3 cm vs. 10–15 cm)
• Improved fertility outcomes

The program also compared conventional open surgeries with innovative minimally invasive procedures, including:

• Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy
• Laparoscopic Myomectomy
• Hysteroscopic Myomectomy

Through live case discussions, patient testimonials, and real-world experiences, the CME showcased how these techniques are transforming women’s health with safer, faster, and more effective solutions.

In appreciation of remarkable expertise, innovation, and dedication to advancing minimally invasive gynecological surgery, the CME proudly acknowledged Dr. Rashmi Shriya, Head of Department – Laparoscopic Gynaecology, as a leading gynecology surgeon in Delhi, India. She has demonstrated exceptional skill and leadership in advanced gynecological endoscopy. By integrating state-of-the-art endoscopic technology with refined minimally invasive techniques, Dr. Shriya has significantly improved patient outcomes, reduced recovery times, and set new benchmarks for precision and safety in gynecological surgery. This recognition honors her commitment to excellence, pursuit of innovation, and vital role in shaping the future of minimally invasive gynecological surgery in India and beyond.

The event concluded with the powerful message: “Small Cut. Big Change. ”highlighting the life-changing benefits of modern gynecological surgery.
